Hi! I’m Serena and I graduated from Loreto Mandeville Hall with an ATAR of 99.20.
Having completed high school recently, I can definitely remember all the hours spent puzzling over textbook passages, waiting for the equations and explanations to finally click inside my head. Now that I’ve come out the other side, I’ve developed an expansive toolkit of creative, intuitive and engaging tricks to help make simple sense of the most abstract and mind-boggling concepts. And as a tutor, it’s my passion to pass these on to students and help them love what they’re studying.
I’m really excited to share all the ways in which my in-depth knowledge of maths, extended now to a university level, can enrich and provide interesting contexts for everything that’s learned in regular old high school.
Throughout high school and the whirlwind that was VCE, I balanced the stress of my classes by participating in several orchestras and choirs and performing in school concerts and musicals. Although I can definitely remember moments where the challenges seemed insurmountable, I know with certainty that with support from friends and family, an optimistic attitude and a ton of grit and determination, everything will be A-okay.
Now I’m studying the Bachelor of Science at Monash University, doing an extended major in maths. When I’m not in study mode, I’m binging something on Netflix, trying to teach myself how to cook something tasty, or taking my ever-energetic toy poodle out for a walk.
