Our Exam Tutors are more than just high achievers...

They know the ins and outs of your curriculum, and they care about your success...
...just as much as you do!

When you start to feel the exam-xiety of your assessments and tests approaching, it is well and truly crunch time!

I’m sure you are thinking about all that last minute content you need to squeeze into your brain (and how you are possibly going to do it for every subject!) Along with a few key tips for last minute revision, we have some more general advice about time management and the importance of taking time for yourself during a period that can, no doubt, be very stressful. Here are some tips to prepare for your exams!

Managing your exam timetable

When managing your exam timetable it’s all about working smart! Prioritise the subjects and topics that need it.

Although we have the tendency to only study for the next exam, this can create a lot of stress when you finish that exam and then have three more over the next five days (trust me, I’ve been there and I would not recommend). Over the next few weeks, focus on the subjects and topics that you are weaker in. This may mean focusing on your last exam if you are more confident with those exams that are earlier. Just because English is your first exam, it doesn’t mean you should just be studying for English… what about your economics exam that is the day after?

Take time for yourself

While last minute revision and time management is super important, this piece of advice takes the cake: take time for yourself. It is so essential that you strike a balance, otherwise you will burn out. These final exams do not mean that you have to put all other aspects of your life on hold.

In fact, exercise, socialising and good sleep is exactly what your brain needs to process all of that information that you have so tirelessly crammed in!

You’ve spent a year ticking off all those syllabus dot points and it is now time to bring it all together… How are you going to do it?

Well first, having a super concise set of consolidated notes is paramount. Remembering 100 pages worth of notes is an impossible task but if you can consolidate it into 10 pages then you can focus your attention on the key ideas, particularly those that you are struggling with.

Syllabus mind maps are another effective way to organise your content, particularly if you’re a visual learner like me :) For my content-heavy subjects I would put the Module heading in the middle and then work my way out based on syllabus dot points.

If you can, complete at least one question for every subject, every day. Keep those clogs ticking (even if it's literally one multiple choice question).

Preparing for exams can be quite stressful, and understanding what's going on can be very daunting for new students and parents. If you ever need some assistance with exam studies or subject specific help, KIS Academics exam tutors have a thorough understanding of their subjects and can assist in understanding curriculum requirements. Our tutors are able to provide materials and teaching on how to prepare for assessments. Learn about our exam tutoring and book a free study skills consultation with a KIS Academics tutor.

As a year 11 student doing ATAR, I was looking for a tutor that could help me with French. KIS Academics was incredibly helpful and fast at finding me a wace french tutor who could assist me with my studies. My tutor Eliza Carey over the past few months has helped me so much not only in French but in biology and maths as well. I’m incredibly grateful for the effort and commitment she has put into helping me be more comfortable and less stressed about the subjects I was having difficulty with. It’s been nothing but an honour to be tutored by Eliza and I strongly recommend her as a tutor

Serena Su

Hey there! My name is Serena.
I graduated as the Music Captain and have obtained numerous subject awards throughout high school, including being the inaugural winner of the Dr Susan Stevens Principal Award in year 12.
Throughout primary school and high school, I have always accelerated in subjects such as Music, Maths and Science subjects which inspired me to pick the subjects that I completed: Music Performance, Math Methods, Specialist Maths, Psychology, Chemistry and English. I aim to teach you using my experience and study skills obtained in high school. I have also been teaching music instruments, music theories, and subjects since I was in year 9.
I am currently a biomedical science student at Monash. When I get a break, I love to practice my instruments and play with my dogs. I've got two toy poodles! Fun fact about myself, I actually play three instruments (Cello, Piano and the Harp) in which all of my instruments have either completed or currently working to complete my Licentiates or Fellowship degrees.

Adam Binns

Hello, I'm Adam and I'd really like to be your tutor.
I believe in optimising learning to ensure all studying is high-yield and efficient, that way you can minimise the time spent at your desk.
I graduated from John Paul College in 2021 and received an ATAR of 99.7 with raw scores in the mid to high 90s for Math Methods, Specialist Maths, Physics and Chemistry. In year 12 I also received the Math Methods prize for getting the highest result in my cohort. Having achieved these results, I know what study techniques are most effective for STEM subjects and it’s my mission to teach them to as many students as possible.
At the start of 2022, I moved to Melbourne to study a double degree in Engineering and Maths at Monash University. In my spare time I like to go mountain biking or go bowling with my friends.
If you choose to work with me, I will always endeavour to provide as personalised a tutoring experience as possible. This means that lessons will be catered to suit you and your needs, whether that be reviewing exam questions, planning an assignment, or going over general study strategies and best practices for approaching problems. I always make a point of asking my students which teachers they like the most and why, and I adjust my teaching style to match.
I hope to hear from you soon!

Callum Munns

Hi there 👋!

My name is Callum and I am a medical student at Monash University. I graduated from Haileybury College and have plenty of experience tutoring Methods, Chemistry and the UCAT. I scored a raw 46 (scaled 49), raw 46 (scaled 48) and 97th%ile respectively.

It's awesome to know that you are interested in some tutoring! I am determined to tailor each of my lessons to the individual needs of my students, and go far beyond what might be expected of a 'tutor'.

From motivation and organisation to execution and coping with stress, my lessons give a complete approach to conquering the VCE.

I often find myself playing the bass guitar, road-tripping, binging shows and doing anything adrenaline-related when I'm not at my desk.

Feel free to reach out to me if you are at all interested in understanding/mastering these subjects.
