A bit about me
Hello there! My name is Selina, and I am one of the Maths tutors here at KIS Academics. My main goal with tutoring is to empower students and help them feel more confident in their academic abilities. So if you are someone that needs extra assistance with content or want to further accelerate your learning, I am determined to work together to help you smash your goals!
I completed year 12 in 2019 from The Mac Robertson Girls High School. Since then I have recently graduated from a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University, and I am now studying Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne. In terms of my tutoring background, I have a wealth of tutoring experience in primary school Mathematics, high school Mathematics and VCE Maths Methods private tutoring.
Whilst I have always been someone that has aimed to achieve high scores in my studies, a big part of my personality is also made up of a variety of extracurricular activities such as dancing, singing and performing, leadership roles, work and socialising with friends and family. Being involved in so many activities is what has shaped my main teaching principle: ‘work smarter not harder’. I aim to inspire my students to embody this principle and help them implement efficient study techniques so that they also have time to live a balanced lifestyle outside of school.
When it comes to my teaching style, I am a firm believer in having a strong foundation in the content of a subject. This is achieved by ironing out all of the knowledge gaps and clarifying any questions a student may have. Once this is achieved, effective practise is paramount to the success in that subject.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please feel free to contact me so we can venture into this journey together!
