A bit about me
Hi, I'm Nick.
I’m a huge fan of Maths and Physics. In fact, I’m studying Physics at the University of Adelaide. Many students consider Maths (especially Spec/Methods) and Physics some of the most boring, and difficult,
subjects in school, but I don’t think it has to be that way! When we look at the bigger picture as opposed to laser-focusing on certain problems, these subjects become far easier!
I finished up in 2022 with an ATAR of 99.80, and during my studies, I received a High Distinction for the Australian Mathematics Competition (Year 11; Senior Division), and a High Distinction for the Australian Science Olympiads Physics Exam. I also received the 3rd Prize in the MASA SA Maths Talent Quest (Year 11 Individual Investigation Section) for my Stage 2 Methods Investigation when I was in Year 11. This was all thanks to the notes I took, and now I want to pass this strategy on to others, since good note-taking is crucial for writing good proofs, derivations and explanations.
As a tutor, I think the most important thing is focusing on the underlying concepts, as opposed to just the question at hand, since memorising how to do specific types of problems may work temporarily, but truly understanding why we do what we do in problems is the first step to cracking the code of Maths and Physics.
