A bit about me
Hey there, fellow traveller! Thanks for stopping by my profile! My name is Fiona and I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne. If you’re looking for a kindred spirit raring to help you tackle the trials and tribulations of school, and especially the mountains that are English and Literature, you’ve come to the right bonfire.
Whilst I graduated from Glen Waverley Secondary College as a distinguished scholar and top scorer in English, I certainly didn’t achieve it all just by burying my face in books all day (although it’s something I wish I could do with the works of L.M Montgomery). I won’t sugarcoat it and say that I particularly enjoyed year 12 like many other tutors, but I would like to breathe optimism in my comparatively worse perception of school and instil my expert analytical skills and helpful learning strategies in your studying.
My classes will focus on a deep engagement with the texts and a high-level of agency in discussion with the hope that you can walk out of class feeling like Mark Twain. We will ponder the endless HOWs and WHYs, dissect every word on the page, seek out the seemingly unattainable conclusions, and tie it all up in a neat bow by sharpening your writing skills. I know how intimidating essay writing can be and how critical it is to success in your studies, so I’m here every step of the way to help encourage you and refine your work.
Lofty and valiant journey vocab aside, I’m a firm believer in balance and thoroughly enjoying what you do in order to maximise your potential. Throughout high school and VCE, I managed to continue playing cello and performing in choir, even making it to South Korea to compete in the World Choir Games in ‘23. When trying not to hit a top C, I mostly dabble in reading classics and playing tennis.
With all that said, I hope we can embark on this taxing journey together, friend!
