Hi there! My name is Calvin and I'm currently studying Medicine at Monash University. I graduated from Melbourne High School in 2020 with an ATAR of 99.85 and study scores of 49 in Chemistry and 45 in Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, and Physics. I also achieved a UCAT score of 3170, placing me in the 98th percentile in my year, and have tutoring experience at a major tutoring centre. In my free time, I closely follow European soccer leagues (GGMU!!), read books, and play some piano whenever I can.

Although my scores may seem impressive, my study strategies probably weren't so much. I ended up doing what I thought most people do: read the textbook, make my own notes, practice some questions, and repeat, without the help of a tutor. While this evidently worked out for me, I realised that not everyone gets this lucky.

My experiences have led me to believe that truly comprehending concepts at the most fundamental level is the key to performing well in the VCE and UCAT. Only then will you be able to link together and apply the knowledge you have learnt in the most effective manner during your exams. I also recognise the importance of implementing a tailor-made approach so that every student can be helped effectively, no matter they're starting point, goals, strengths or weaknesses.
