Hi, I'm Akanksha and although it has been almost 4 years since I graduated, it still feels like yesterday that I was stressing out because I hadn't done enough prep for my exams, or the fact that I hadn't gotten enough sleep. For me, the experiences that a student has during high school shapes them and impacts who they are for the rest of their lives. During my time in high school, I was a very confused student. Not only did I not understand content fast enough, it was hard for me to study properly and to manage my time, and I had difficulty focusing and remembering why I needed to study. We all have moments at some point in our lives where we think we aren't going to do well enough or accomplish our goals. Hi, my name is Mart. I’m a student at the University of Western Australia finalising my biomedical engineering (honours) degree and hoping to start medical school in 2024 with the hope of being a doctor. Ever since starting high school, I’ve always had a passion for science and maths and love to pass this on to others. I believe these subjects can and should be fun and accessible to all students, if they’re taught the right way. My goal for my students is not only to improve their grades and place them on the pathway to academic success, but also to encourage a lifelong love of learning within them.  I’ve got a lot of experience working with youth of all ages, and a proven track record of helping students improve their grades. I am patient and empathetic, and am always willing to go the extra mile to help my students succeed. After many years of study at both a school and university level, I’ve developed and fine-tuned an arsenal of study techniques and exam strategy that have helped me achieve my academic goals. I happily pass these on to my students, giving them all the tools they need to optimise their learning and smash their exams! I’ve also had the opportunity to conduct research in my time at university, where I’ve applied many of the topics I’ve learned and taught to help solve real world problems. Communicating these experiences to my students often helps answer the classic question, “But when will I ever use this stuff in my day to day life?!”, and helps them see the relevance of what they are learning in the classroom to motivate them. In my free time, I love hiking and spending time outdoors in nature. I like to stay active and fit through the likes of running, basketball and surfing. I also love experimenting with different creative pursuits, right now I’m learning the drums - a great way to blow off some steam! Hi there! I'm Amy and I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics at Curtin University. Since my early years in High School, I've been naturally attracted to writing and the Humanities. I graduated last year with the Principal's Award for the Highest ATAR in my cohort (99.50), as well as receiving Overall Subject Prizes for Economics, Politics and Law, Literature and Indonesian. Additionally, I received a Subject Exhibition for Religion and Life (the highest mark in the state on the WACE examination), was the top student in WA for Indonesian Second Language and finished in the top 2% of the state for Economics. Over my High School journey, but particularly in Years 11 and 12, I was able to refine my written skills across essays, source analysis and short answer questions. Across the many Humanities and English subjects I studied, I discovered lots of strategies and transferrable skills to be used in written work. As your tutor, I aim to consolidate and expand your knowledge and understanding of key course concepts, drawing on examples from the real world to do so. I aim secondly to strengthen your structure in written responses, which is often a simple, yet effective, way to improve assessment results. Outside of studying, I love playing netball, going for acai bowls with my friends and taking my lab down to the beach.
