Hi! My name is Laura and I graduated from Gilroy Santa Maria College with Dux and an ATAR of 98.85. I am from a rural town in North Queensland and have moved to Brisbane to study a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland. My hobbies include sport (cross country, swimming and rowing to name a few), reading and online shopping (if you can call that a hobby haha). I also love to cook and bake, especially my favourite foods! I remember the feeling after finishing my final year 12 exam, it was the true definition of a weight being lifted off your shoulders! However I will never forget all the stress and hard work leading up to them. So trust me I know exactly how you feel. My experience in high school has provided me with lifetime skills and strategies that I will pass on to you, so you too can reach your goals. Hey potential student! (hopefully) You know I'm Colm and that I came in on the lower end of a 99 ATAR but, what you likely don't know yet, is that I'm confident I'll be a great match for you as a tutor. I didn't always see very much academic success at the beginning of my time in high school but after moving away from Brisbane State High (yes I know incredible school, it was tragic) I gained a lot of perspective and found my stride with schooling. I am now studying a Bachelor of Engineering and Science majoring in biomedical engineering and biomedical science. I'm hoping to follow my parents into medicine and also become a capable practicing engineer. Ever since I got my first taste of success and found out what I could really achieve when I set my mind to it, I found significantly more motivation in pushing and disciplining myself to do my best. Together I'd love to show you everything I've learned as well as find your source of motivation. Having always been the one to try and help all my friends wherever possible, I completely understand different confidences in different topics, though I will forever remain optimistic that finding the perfect study strategy can drastically change studying for any student. Outside of school stuff I am an avid indoor boulderer (still waiting for the perfect chance to try outdoors) and a newly indoctrinated windsurfing novice. I am very sociable, although I certainly feel my own share of awkwardness, and I do love to make new friends and learn everything I can from them.
