As a year 11 student doing ATAR, I was looking for a tutor that could help me with French. KIS Academics was incredibly helpful and fast at finding me a wace french tutor who could assist me with my studies. My tutor Eliza Carey over the past few months has helped me so much not only in French but in biology and maths as well. I’m incredibly grateful for the effort and commitment she has put into helping me be more comfortable and less stressed about the subjects I was having difficulty with. It’s been nothing but an honour to be tutored by Eliza and I strongly recommend her as a tutor
“I got the top mark for my SAC which was really nice, and I think that’s all because of my tutor”
Medha / Year 12 Student
“It's been absolutely fantastic and it's just been a very positive environment for learning”
Amanda / Parent of a Year 7 Student
Hey everybody, my name is Isira Parahitiyawa and I am a medical student currently studying at Curtin University. I graduated from Shenton College in 2020 with a Certificate of Distinction, a 98.95 ATAR and a 98th Percentile UCAT. There was always a lot of pressure for me to do really well in school and I really struggled to hone a study technique in year 11 and 12. So I understand how it feels to have the enormous pressure of year 12 on you, and I know how to make your studies as seamless and easy as possible. Last year during medical school I finally understood how to study properly and work effectively. My personal goal is to make sure you guys understand the content that is taught in school rather than regurgitate useless facts like “the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell” I excelled in Chemistry and Mathematics Methods in Year 11 and 12 and placed within the top 5 in my school for both subjects. I understand the trials and tribulations of ATAR in year 12 and I believe I am capable in teaching students to really excel in both subjects. Furthermore, I can capably tutor Years 5-10 in Mathematics and Science as I did very well in those subjects as well. I do not believe the person that did the best in their ATAR is necessarily the best tutor, since they might have found a study system that works really well for them, but it might not work for you. I have tried (and failed) with pretty much all the study techniques so I know what works and what does not. Trust me I have basically made all the mistakes you can possibly make in Year 12, and one of my goals is to make sure you guys don't do the same. I also have a wealth of tutoring experience, having privately tutored students for a year now. I have tutored students that had exams in a few days time, students just about to go into Year 11/12 who really wanted help in getting to that next level, students that were falling behind class, and even a year 1 student who wanted help with some maths. I have learned the importance of reducing burnout, stress and workload in Year 12 as well. I will change up my tutoring style if I feel you are not getting it, because everyone learns differently and what worked for someone else might not work for you. I love the feeling of finally getting a tough concept across and seeing the lightbulb moment as students that were struggling finally understand the concept. When I am not at uni, I try and stay as far away from med as possible. Instead you might find me at the gym, playing badminton, taking photos or playing with my dog (she’s a Kelpie cross, if you are wondering)
Hi, my name is Mart. I’m a student at the University of Western Australia finalising my biomedical engineering (honours) degree and hoping to start medical school in 2024 with the hope of being a doctor. Ever since starting high school, I’ve always had a passion for science and maths and love to pass this on to others. I believe these subjects can and should be fun and accessible to all students, if they’re taught the right way. My goal for my students is not only to improve their grades and place them on the pathway to academic success, but also to encourage a lifelong love of learning within them. I’ve got a lot of experience working with youth of all ages, and a proven track record of helping students improve their grades. I am patient and empathetic, and am always willing to go the extra mile to help my students succeed. After many years of study at both a school and university level, I’ve developed and fine-tuned an arsenal of study techniques and exam strategy that have helped me achieve my academic goals. I happily pass these on to my students, giving them all the tools they need to optimise their learning and smash their exams! I’ve also had the opportunity to conduct research in my time at university, where I’ve applied many of the topics I’ve learned and taught to help solve real world problems. Communicating these experiences to my students often helps answer the classic question, “But when will I ever use this stuff in my day to day life?!”, and helps them see the relevance of what they are learning in the classroom to motivate them. In my free time, I love hiking and spending time outdoors in nature. I like to stay active and fit through the likes of running, basketball and surfing. I also love experimenting with different creative pursuits, right now I’m learning the drums - a great way to blow off some steam! If you’re looking for a dedicated, experienced and passionate tutor, I’m your guy! I am confident I can help you achieve your academic goals and guide you through the often difficult journey through high school.
Hi, my name is Ethan Wang and I graduated from Perth Modern School in 2022 with an ATAR of 99.70. I have a passion for helping others and I would love to see my students achieve maximum results. I strongly believe that everyone has the aptitude to achieve great results if they work hard enough. I hope to see students be able to solve the more difficult questions and develop their skills in the subjects through doing lots of practice questions. I can also act as someone's mentor and guide them through their personal difficult hardships and mental health issues. The ATAR subjects I tutor are Maths Methods, Maths Specialist and Chemistry. However, feel free to ask me questions about ATAR Physics and I'll try my best to help. I can teach on zoom but I strongly believe that in person tutoring is a much more effective use of time. I can also provide you with past papers from Perth Modern School, Christ Church Grammar School and various other schools for the subjects Maths Methods, Maths Specialist, Physics and Chemistry. My primary tutoring location will be at UWA Reid library.
