Hi there!! My name is James and I am a Bialik College graduate currently studying Medicine at Monash University. Whilst working towards being a doctor is my life-long passion and joy, I would be lying if I said I did not miss doing maths and being faced with difficult and challenging questions that took hours to just wrap my head around. Throughout high school and VCE I made it my goal to understand and apply my content rather than to memorise it. This not only kept me interested and engaged in the content but also reduced my workload. It is this understanding-based approach that I utilise in my maths tutoring as I prepare my students to be adaptable, independent and versatile rather than reliant on cheat sheets and prone to stress-related mistakes in tests when they forget specific methods. However, I still appreciate the importance of achieving high marks and sometimes memorisation, formulas and methodology in conjunction with a core understanding works more effectively. Outside of studying I enjoy playing tennis, relaxing with friends and being a chocoholic all-throughout!

Hey! My name is Gabriella; I am a Mount Scopus College graduate and I am currently studying Medicine at Monash university. Throughout school and VCE, I formed some studying strategies which even helped me to achieve a perfect score in further mathematics in VCE! My studying methods have helped keep me focused and engaged, and have also made studying easier! As it has been more effective, the workload during school significantly decreased as I was prioritising quality over quantity! I have been tutoring both high school and primary school maths for a few years now and am able to easily adapt the content and teaching towards each student as everyone is varied in their preferred method of learning! I will also provide tips and tricks using my experience in school! In between studying I love to play tennis, hang out with friends and bake while watching netflix!

Hi! I’m Serena and I graduated from Loreto Mandeville Hall with an ATAR of 99.20. Having completed high school recently, I can definitely remember all the hours spent puzzling over textbook passages, waiting for the equations and explanations to finally click inside my head. Now that I’ve come out the other side, I’ve developed an expansive toolkit of creative, intuitive and engaging tricks to help make simple sense of the most abstract and mind-boggling concepts. And as a tutor, it’s my passion to pass these on to students and help them love what they’re studying. I’m really excited to share all the ways in which my in-depth knowledge of maths, extended now to a university level, can enrich and provide interesting contexts for everything that’s learned in regular old high school. Throughout high school and the whirlwind that was VCE, I balanced the stress of my classes by participating in several orchestras and choirs and performing in school concerts and musicals. Although I can definitely remember moments where the challenges seemed insurmountable, I know with certainty that with support from friends and family, an optimistic attitude and a ton of grit and determination, everything will be A-okay. Now I’m studying the Bachelor of Science at Monash University, doing an extended major in maths. When I’m not in study mode, I’m binging something on Netflix, trying to teach myself how to cook something tasty, or taking my ever-energetic toy poodle out for a walk.
