As a year 11 student doing ATAR, I was looking for a tutor that could help me with French. KIS Academics was incredibly helpful and fast at finding me a wace french tutor who could assist me with my studies. My tutor Eliza Carey over the past few months has helped me so much not only in French but in biology and maths as well. I’m incredibly grateful for the effort and commitment she has put into helping me be more comfortable and less stressed about the subjects I was having difficulty with. It’s been nothing but an honour to be tutored by Eliza and I strongly recommend her as a tutor
“I got the top mark for my SAC which was really nice, and I think that’s all because of my tutor”
Medha / Year 12 Student
“It's been absolutely fantastic and it's just been a very positive environment for learning”
Amanda / Parent of a Year 7 Student
My name is Khandoker Ishmam Mustakim but you can call me Ishmam for short. I am currently studying Commerce at the University of Melbourne. I graduated high school with 4A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Accounting and Mathematics under the Cambridge A'Levels Curriculum. I had pursued many ECAs. I have participated in over 23 Model United Nations conferences around the world, achieving prestigious awards as a delegate and serving as the head judge for many of them. Notably winning the Most Outstanding Award in another one of the largest conferences in the world, Asia Youth International MUN 19 hosted in Malaysia. I’ve visited a few countries - Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Nepal throughout my MUN journey. I even had invitational offers to serve as a judge for prominent MUNs like Oxford MUN 20 and Harvard World MUN 20 (but they later got cancelled due to Covid). Proud to say I had the privilege to work and learn from the most experienced, and the attained awards motivated me to work harder. The core skills I acquired from these included negotiation, networking, researching, documentation, critical analysis, and work ethics. I was able to showcase all that I have learned when I participated in a few business competitions with unique startup ideas, including one with bioplastics at I Entrepreneurs Summit 19 (Marketing Pitch Category) where I placed first. From these two ECAs, I had peaked interests in Marketing and Economics which I would be able to study alongside my majors if I took a course in Commerce. Aside from all the academic achievements, I have also been playing a key role in creating an impact in my community. Since middle school (Grade 5) I have been involved with Scouting and through this, I organized mass awareness campaigns regarding gender equality and nature protection. It’s a part of the scouting program to have physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and intellectual growth over the years to become a responsible citizen and benefit the community as a whole. Not just the local community but also form a tight-knit bond with scouts around the world. Scouting is a continuous development process as we believe in the quote, “Leave the world a better place than you found it”. After successfully completing the scout program and contributing to society for a five-year period, I have been a recipient of the highest award, the President’s Scout Award, given by the Honorable President of Bangladesh. To have an impact on different aspects, I worked in leading positions at many different NGOs - taught underprivileged children, gathered volunteers for cleaning drives, and hosted self-defense workshops while working at One Action Foundation, reached out to students from all backgrounds to empower them with leadership training at Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center, fundraised for hunger programs and winter cloth distribution at Durnibar Foundation, and supported many students with their academic difficulties through online education and seminars at Nerd Community. I have been teaching for the last five years and I am skilled at teaching all levels of high school mathematics and accounting primarily.
Hi! I’m Sabine - and as a recent high school graduate I know only too well how tough it can be, but I also know it can be super rewarding. I strongly believe that efficient and enjoyable study strategies and an understanding of your learning is all that’s needed to thrive in high school! As a student I struggled with motivation until I realised that the best way to learn is to play to your strengths and interests. I love helping students find their own learning strengths and styles, and assisting them to use these to get the best out of themselves. I enjoy explaining complex areas of the curriculum in simple terms, breaking down larger concepts into digestible pieces that can be easily understood, recalled, and expressed. Throughout high school I worked in edutainment, volunteered, and regularly rode my horse - placing a priority on my health and well-being, while still graduating as DUX of my school with a 99.25 ATAR and the top scores in my school for 5 of my 6 subjects. My passions lie in subjects that require an understanding of interconnectedness, resulting in my study scores of 50 in Biology, 46 in Geography, and 45 in Literature. I’m currently studying a Batchelor of Science at Melbourne Uni, with a major in plant pathology. I love the outdoors, and outside of study am an equestrian, a hiker, a novice golfer, a lover of science fiction, and a massive F1 fan. If you’re looking for a tutor to help you study effectively and efficiently, and to build understanding of the links between complex areas of the curriculum - I might just be the person for you!
Hello! I’m Jerry Yip, a 2022 graduate of Prince Alfred College (Adelaide) with an ATAR of 98.55. I’m a Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics and EAL tutor in both VCE and IB curriculum. I did the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in my last two year of high school and achieve merits in Mathematics, Economics and Chemistry and Sports Science. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Biomedicine in the University of Melbourne, with an interest in biomedical research. Despite the high workload in high school, I find a way to balance between my hobbies (reading and running) and my academic commitments and I find that this is my key to my success. Personally I find that maintaining a normal lifestyle can help you to achieve better academic outcomes. In terms of study techniques, I think the key to success is built around these four components. Build a genuine interest in your chosen subjects, strengthen your foundation of the subject’s nature, knowing what assessors are looking for, and mastering effective study techniques. I would like to use my experiences from high school and university to share my knowledge and experience to help you all! During our session, I will tailor made our lessons to ensure you are on track with your current studies and any upcoming assessments. My number one priority would be helping you to understand key contents and ideas well and develop approaches to tackle different type of assessments. This will be done by working through practice problems and past exams, with a comprehensive collection of notes and past exams that I’ve accumulated throughout my times in school. I look forward to meeting you and give you a hand in your academic journey. If you want to further discuss more, feel free to contact me and we can organise a trial lesson to learn more about your specific needs.
