I'm not going to lie to you. Methods is tough. Really tough. It's so tough that the majority of students who sit the exam sit it with no hope at all. They've already given up
The odds are stacked up against you at no fault of your own. You can pester your teacher.You can buy textbook after textbook and answer question after question.But in this subject, none of that guarantees success.
How do I know? I can tell you from experience.
I saw it in my own classroom happening to my friends, almost happening to me. The majority of students give up on methods halfway through the year

In this subject there are obvious winners or losers, and you don't have to wait until results come out to tell. June, July, August; this is when students start to drop like flies - giving up on their hopes of succeeding in methods.
By the time we get to that stage in the year, it'll be too late. If you want to succeed, you must act now.
Think about this. If half of South Australia's entire Methods cohort give up halfway through the year, you as a student can interpret that in two ways.
1. You can scare yourself into thinking "I'm digging myself a grave and the year's only just begun"
2. Or you can adopt a winners mindset. You can listen and learn from people who have been there before and achieved what you want to achieve. If half of SA gives up on methods, that means that come exam time, you're only competing against the half of SA that are taking methods seriously.

Hi, my name’s Alex.
I graduated as Dux of high school with a raw ATAR of 99.05. In Year 12 I studied Specialist Math, Math Methods, Physics, and Chemistry, achieving an ‘A+’ grade in each subject, with additional SACE subject merits in both specialist and math methods. I enjoyed all these subjects, but really have a passion for math, which is why I’m currently studying mathematics at theUniversity of Adelaide.
I am extremely comfortable with the SACE curriculum/expectations and understand how students can maximise their ATAR and subject results.
I had two main goals going into creating this Stage 1methods course – give a robust explanation of the fundamental theory concepts, and to provide many sample questions with detailed working out and explanation to show the theory in action. The types of questions I choose work though are typical to tests and examinations. This allows for students to concretely see how to approach tests/exams and what the main expectations are.
Overall, my goal as a tutor is to motivate and guide students to fulfil their potential!
