Biology is often thought of as being an easier subject, one that isn’t as stressful as chemistry or maths, but if you don’t prepare correctly, you could find that it's equally difficult to score high grades in biology.
Biology is both content-heavy and relies on concepts that can be hard to grasp. Students often struggle with these two things, either trying to remember the endless content or to understand what a pre-zygotic isolating mechanism is.
Stage 1 Biology isn’t considered to be as important as Stage 2 as it does not contribute directly to your ATAR. However, learning and really understanding the concepts does help you in Year 12 which will make your year slightly easier.
The good news is that if you identify the key parts of the course and the ones that are involved in next year’s content, you can improve your grades and get ahead in Stage 2 Bio. I’m here to help you do that.

Hi, I’m Emilia and I am a recent graduate from Pembroke School. I love teaching and am excited to help students develop their skills! Having graduated in 2021, I am very familiar with the current SACE syllabus. I am now studying the Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) at the University of Adelaide with an interest in majoring in either Biology or Geology. I have continued to study English literature and Ancient studies as electives in university, maintaining my knowledge in the humanities.
My teaching is dependent on the needs of my students, whether it be explanations for difficult concepts, revision of material learned at school, assignment help or learning ahead of school work. It is also important for me to provide teaching that will suit various learning styles which enables me to make sure that my explanations are easy to understand. I particularly like to focus on improving the communication and English skills of my students, as this can improve performance across all subjects, not only the ones I teach.
I know that learning can be difficult so I make sure to be a support for my students and help make subjects fun and engaging.
