Hello, Guys! 👋
I am a firm believer that the quit-everything-and-lock-in mentality is the absolute antithesis to doing well at school. Instead, I spent revision periods adding sarcastic notes to ethically questionable psychology case studies and drawing a (terrible but) memorable fluorescent masterpiece of Pavlov’s dog. Understanding content deeply and making it memorable is central to how I tutor...
Hey I’m Ruby!
Having completed all of my schooling in a small country town, I’m familiar with what it feels like to want big outcomes without always having a clear roadmap to get there. Whether it’s pushing grades into the next band, meeting the mark for a dream degree, or working towards competitive scholarship pathways, I understand how overwhelming that process can feel without the right support.
Alongside my high school studies, I balanced a part-time job, leadership roles, and music practice most days (aka how many 2010s hits can I mash up on the piano). On the academic side, I graduated with a merit in psychology, two high distinctions in my university psych classes, and a scaled 99.95 (raw 98.1) ATAR. I am currently studying a BA in psych at the University of Melbourne and continue to build on the learning strategies that helped me succeed across both secondary and tertiary study.
Beyond psychology, I spent a lot of time decoding the mysteries of general English, maths methods (where the main takeaway was "Ruby, don’t build rollercoasters"), legal studies (easily the best designed subject), music and AIF. I pivoted to tutoring because learning works best when students do not feel like they are doing it alone.
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. Otherwise, I look forward to working with you.
Ruby 😊
