Miro
Hi, I'm Miro!
I'm a believer in doing; that is, not being caught up in what I have decided I can or can't do. So far, this has led to me being a twice recipient of the START QUT scholarship (letting me complete two university subjects whilst in high school, obtaining a GPA of 7), getting into my ideal degrees of Maths and Law at the Australian National University, and learning on my own terms. I would love to extend this to you, helping you reach any goals that you may have.
The common sales pitch of tutors is perfect scores and enviable academic achievements; while incredibly impressive, it's not what life is like for most of us. I understand the struggle of not knowing what you want to do after high school, or being unable to dedicate 8+ hours a day to study. I know that the difficulty for many people is not with the content, but the social and cultural pressures on high schoolers. I know the disappointment of not getting the grade, or just missing out on goals. As a result, I've developed a holistic approach to tutoring that is not just around the content — while not skimping on a deep understanding of the content!
I have a few years of experience in tutoring, having worked both as a private tutor and an after-school tutor at my high school. I focus on the pedagogical methods as much, if not more so, than on any specific piece of content. I have taught most subjects to some degree or another, but my focus is on maths and, if requested, general essay writing.
When I'm not studying or working (which happens more than it really should lol) you can find me drinking tea, reading, or very confidently singing the words wrong to karaoke songs. I used to participate in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai but I am currently taking a bit of a hiatus to try out Judo. A warning: I will nerd out about these sports if you give me the opportunity.
If you believe you deserve a holistic approach to tutoring, with advice from someone that has had every question you've had and some, please do reach out. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
