Hi! My name is Isy, and I'm studying a Bachelor of Arts/Science at UQ. Not the most common combination, but I love it. Within my Arts degree I'm majoring in English Literature and Art History; I'm still figuring it out for my Science degree... But something to do with Conservation Biology and Ecology is my goal.
I love to read (it would be pretty sad if I didn't, based on my degree), play/watch soccer, travel, and watch random old movies.
I've always enjoyed learning and did well in high school, but it wasn't easy - I hope that I can help you have a much better go of it than I did! Whether that's through teaching you about essay writing techniques, research tips and tricks or just going through everything you're learning with some support, I'm here to help. My main goal as a tutor is to try and impart some of my passion for learning onto you, and make your studies more fun and approachable as a result.
My specialty is definitely English. If I am unfamiliar with the text you're studying I'm more than happy to read it myself - I believe this makes a massive difference with how much help I can offer you and your studies. Sparknotes is great, but it can only do so much!
My Arts degree is effectively my way of continuing to study history at university, albeit in a more focused and maybe less conventional way; I also studied both Ancient and Modern History at high school, and would love to help you - from figuring out the mess of the past to writing research essays and evaluating source reliability.
I especially love tutoring in person, and am happy to drive around Brisbane or meet at your local library or at one of the UQ libraries.
Thanks, and I hope to meet you soon! Isy :)
