Hello, Guys! 👋
My name is Gaurika, and I am a second-year medical student at the University of Adelaide. I graduated Year 12 with an ATAR of 98.75, achieving a Merit in Mathematics Methods, and went on to complete Year 13, where I attained a 99.5 ATAR. I am a confident, approachable, and personable tutor who is passionate about helping students succeed in mathematics. I place a strong emphasis on developing a deep conceptual understanding, breaking down complex problems into clear, manageable steps. My tutoring style is tailored to each student’s individual learning needs, aiming not only to improve academic performance but also to build confidence and independent problem-solving skills, enabling students to reach their highest potential.
My tutoring approach places a strong emphasis on developing a deep understanding of mathematical concepts before focusing on problem-solving. I prioritise ensuring students truly grasp the why behind each method, rather than relying on memorisation alone. This approach reflects the strategies that helped me achieve a Merit in Mathematics Methods, particularly through visualising and conceptualising problems and formulae to improve efficiency and accuracy.
I aim to make mathematics engaging and intuitive by presenting concepts as logical narratives rather than isolated numbers and formulas. By framing mathematics as a sequence of connected ideas, students are better able to retain information, apply concepts confidently, and approach unfamiliar problems with clarity.
I have over a year of tutoring experience, working with students of varying abilities and learning styles. This has allowed me to adapt my teaching methods to suit individual needs, ensuring lessons are both effective and supportive. I typically offer lessons of 1–2 hours in duration but remain flexible to accommodate each student’s goals, schedule, and learning pace.
