Hello, Guys! 👋
About me...
Hey, I'm Alex and I am currently studying a major in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Melbourne. I graduated from Perth Modern School with an ATAR of 99.75, and with Methods and Specialist scores of 93.4 and 94.8 respectively.
In my free time, I love playing guitar and playing in bands with my friends. I’m also a very competitive and active person-- I've been playing baseball for over a decade now, and am keen to join unimelb's baseball team!
As for my teaching philosophy...
Some of my favourite Maths and Physics teachers throughout my senior years of high school showed me how fun learning can truly be. Their teaching philosophy consisted of breaking down complex concepts into simpler and practical visualisations which made learning content way easier to digest. As such, I regularly employ these methods in my teaching philosophy—relying less on brute-force and memorisation, and more on genuine understanding of why things exist, why they work, how to visualise problems and answers, and how to solve problems organically and without merely following formulas.
I’m a very self-motivated and driven person, always aiming for academic excellence for personal growth, and not for societal or parental expectations. This has allowed me to develop a passion for subjects such as Mathematics and Physics, along with a love for learning. This love for learning readily translates into a love for teaching and sharing my knowledge in a way that is simple but engaging.
