Sam
Hey, I’m Sam!
I graduated from Fredrick Irwin Anglican School in 2023, achieving an ATAR of 97.55 and a score of 95% in my physics WACE exam. I’m now following my passion, studying a Bachelor of Science in frontier physics at the University of Western Australia.
The thing is, even by the end of year 12, I had no idea what I should study at university. I’m an avid percussionist and composer, so I often envisioned myself studying at WAAPA to pursue a career in music. On the other hand, I developed a passion for physics and mathematics throughout high school, which ultimately led me to study physics at uni.
I guess my point is, just like myself, you don’t have to have it all figured out right away! But what you CAN do is maximise your grades to leave yourself open to the most opportunities, and that’s where I can help. One of the biggest reasons students don’t perform to the best of their abilities in school is because it’s just made completely uninteresting. It’s my mission as a tutor to spark students' interest in STEM subjects; to make it something they're enthusiastic to learn about, rather than just another thing they have to learn about for an upcoming assessment.
In my opinion, one of the best things about physics and maths is that they require very little rote learning. It’s less about memorising a bunch of notes, and more about developing a deep understanding of the fundamental concepts, which can be applied to solve any question that comes up. So if you want to turbocharge your performance in these subjects and really strengthen your understanding, I’m your guy!
