Keisha
Hello there! My name is Keisha and I am an upper school Math tutor who is passionate about helping high school students reach their full potential. I am currently studying Actuarial Science at Curtin University as a John de Laeter top excellence scholar.
In Year 12, I graduated as Dux of Willetton Senior High School with an ATAR of 99.90, achieving final scaled scores of 94 in Math Specialist and 93 in Math Methods. I also received a General Exhibition, ranking 23rd in Western Australia based on final exam performance across six subjects.
Drawing from my own experience as a high school student, but also now as a private tutor, I have developed a strong understanding of how students learn best. I have tested countless study techniques and strategies for excelling in math – some which have worked really well for me, and others not so well. This process of trial and error has taught me that there is no single ‘right’ way to learn. As a tutor, I now help students identify the approaches that suit them best, rather than relying on one-size-fits-all methods.
Complex mathematical concepts often don’t ‘click’ straight away, so I focus on breaking ideas down into clear, straightforward explanations that students can easily follow. During my sessions, I always encourage students to ask lots of questions, as I believe that this is the foundation of developing a thorough understanding of any math concept. I adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s individual needs, while building their confidence and equipping them with the skills to become independent and curious learners.
Outside of academics, I enjoy playing various instruments (piano, guitar and viola!) and attending concerts with friends. I also keep myself busy with various student committees at university! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are interested or would like to learn more about what I offer.
