Imogen
Hi! I’m Imogen, a second-year Bachelor of Science student at the University of Melbourne on the pre-medicine pathway. I graduated from the IB in 2023 with a score of 43/45, achieving the highest mark band in all of my coursework (IAs) as well as a high A in my TOK essay, exhibition, and Extended Essay.
Since graduating, I’ve been working as a full-time online tutor with several Australian tutoring agencies and have now supported over 25 students. My approach to tutoring focuses on deep understanding rather than rote memorisation — helping students truly grasp concepts so they can confidently apply them to new and challenging scenarios.
I’m especially passionate about IB tutoring, as I know firsthand how stressful the experience can be and how specific the marking criteria for exams and IAs are. My goal is to make every student’s journey to academic success as smooth, confident, and low-stress as possible.
My favourite subjects to tutor are sciences and French. I recently spent time on exchange in France as part of my university studies, where I immersed myself in the language and culture. During this experience, I was honoured to receive the Nicolas Baudin Scholarship Grant from the French Embassy in recognition of my academic achievements.
Through my studies at the University of Melbourne, I’m continuing to deepen my knowledge in Chemistry and Biology, which helps me provide students with the extra context needed to fully understand and engage with IB science topics.
In my free time I am a week;y volunteer at the Royal Melbourne Children's hospital which I have been doing now for over two years and is something very close to my heart as I experienced my own share of chronic illnesses growing up. I also volunteer for Avalon's home for the homeless and am a massive fan of animals, dogs in particular!
