Bravmon
Hello, my name is Bravmon and I graduated from Melbourne High School in 2024 with an ATAR of 99.60, and raw VCE Scores of 48 Methods, 41 Specialist, 45 Biology, 43 English, 40 Chemistry, and 37 Algorithmics. I am currently studying Doctor of Medicine at Monash University, and I aspire to be a doctor in the future.
A key reason why I chose to pursue being a doctor, is because I find it extremely rewarding to be given the opportunity to make a personal impact on people's lives and futures. And this is also a key reason as to why I chose to become a tutor. One's high school years can determine their future life journey. It not only influences what you are going to do post graduation, whether it be getting a job, doing TAFE or going to uni, but is also meant to prepare you for life through teaching you organisational and problem solving skills. That is why your few years in high school are definitely years you shouldn't waste, and should be used to help prepare you for life. That is why, as a tutor, I have made it my goal to not only boost my student's grades, but also to equip them to be independent learners as well, through teaching them vital organisational skills, and methods of self learning, which will help them for the rest of their life.
As a tutor, I recognise that 1-2 hours of tutoring alone is rarely enough to make significant improvements to one's grades. Rather, a tutor should also be able to "help" their students during the countless more hours they spend doing homework, and consolidating their new knowledge. However, as the tutor is not present during these times, they must equip their students to be capable of independent learning themselves, where they are able to apply the knowledge they learnt in lessons when doing their homework, completing practice questions/tests, as well as being able to learn from their mistakes. This is where the bulk of your improvements come from, and this is also where I strive to make the most impact, where I am not only just teaching my student for 1-2 hours a week, but teaching them to be able to teach themselves as well.
