Amy
Hi there! My name’s Amy and I graduated from my Master of Teaching (Secondary) in 2022 and in addition to being a qualified teacher, I have over six years tutoring experience. In this time, I have refined my teaching philosophy and take a highly explicit model of teaching in order to empower students to realise their potential in a safe and supportive environment. Specifically, some of my strengths include supporting students write in a range of text structures like essays and speeches as well as skills such as analysis and critical thinking. I love being able to teach English and History and feel that my passion for these subjects translates into giving students 110% of my attention. Outside of tutoring, I’m also an early career researcher in Ancient History, meaning that I am currently conducting research on values and attitudes of the ancient past in places such as Greece and Rome and to do this, make use of ancient texts and archaeological materials. To break up my time between tutoring and research, I enjoy reading (one of my favourite books is Station Eleven), gardening (I regularly make my own tomato paste) as well as camping and photography.
