Warnakulasuriya
Hi!
I’m Warnakulasuriya, but that’s a bit of a tongue twister, so I prefer my second name - Nilein. I am currently a 2nd Year Medical student at Monash University. I graduated high school as the Dux of St. Phillip’s College in Alice Springs (yup, almost the middle of nowhere) with a raw ATAR of 98.40, a selection rank of 99.95 and an A+ merit in Physics.
Throughout high school, my main goal was to prove that even if you aren’t in a major city or you are quite literally in the middle of nowhere, you can still achieve your goals if you put in the effort. I believe I did that when I made it to the Top 20 in the NT, being the only student from Central Australia to do so that year. At school, I loved Maths as well as Physics. At some point, I was so invested in Math that I started doing the AMC (Australian Mathematics Competition) questions for fun. So you could say that I’m pretty passionate about the subject. But that led me to achieve a high distinction in the AMC and achieve the 100th percentile for my state.
Outside of school, I enjoy playing badminton, computer programming, socialising with friends and spending time with my family.
I’ve always loved teaching, whether it be my friends asking me questions, or having to teach my younger brother. What have I learnt? I believe that when you’re learning, making mistakes and asking questions is part of the process. In fact, I’d probably be concerned if you didn’t have questions! We’ll do everything step-by-step to make sure that you’re confident in everything you need to know, to ace whatever subject it is that you might be doing.
Well, that’s it from me. Best of luck with your studies and I look forward to meeting you!
