📚 We'll provide resources
We give you teaching resources and provide you with worksheets to give your students so you don't have to write your own. We also give you access to notes and a curriculum to help guide your teaching. All of this is at your disposal but completely optional for you to use.
💰 Pay starts at $40/hour
We're super transparent with compensation and you'll earn higher than industry average rates (starting at $40/hour). When we discuss what type of tutor you'll be and the subject(s) you want to teach, we'll tell you exactly how the pay will work and your hourly rate.
✅ Guaranteed payments
Every tutor has a scary story of doing a lesson with a student and then getting ghosted and never getting paid. We guarantee up to 2 lessons worth of payment with each student so you know that when you've done a lesson, you'll receive what's owed.
📝 We do all the admin
Let us do the heavy lifting when it comes to admin work. If clients have admin questions or haven't paid, KIS will do all the chasing up and answer any questions they have. You don't need to worry about any of the admin work.
👩🔬 Great on the resume
Career development opportunities. We've previously run a LinkedIn workshop for our tutors and regularly provide opportunities for tutors to get involved in internal KIS business development roles including sales, marketing, content creation, product management, etc.
🧑🎓 Students love us
Top quality service to students, so you know you're making a real difference. Depending on the subject they're doing, we can provide your students with video lessons so they can review lessons, and all our students get access to study skills videos.
📣 We'll advertise for you
We do the advertising (you don't have to pay or do anything!) and we spend on average $300-$400 per tutor per year.
🆓 Freedom to work freelance
You can search out your own students and tutor them aside from the ones you get through us. We'll list you on our website and pay for all marketing. If students want you as their tutor, they'll sign up. No loss for you.

Some of KIS best ideas and major policy changes have been based on the recommendations of our tutors. We believe that happy tutors = happy students. Of course you'll be expected to perform to a high standard, but we truly care about supporting you to be the best tutor you can be.

We're picky. Here's what we're looking for
We have an extremely high set of standards when it comes to hiring new tutors.
Qualifications required
All tutors must:
- Be available to do at least 5 hours of tutoring per week
- Be comfortable running private tutoring or small groups of up to 3 students
- Be able to tutor most weeks of the school term over the next 12 months
- Live or plan to live in Australia for the next 12 months
- Hold a valid employee (paid worker) Working with Children Check for your state. Please apply for one now if you don't have one!
Academic performance
You'll need to meet at least one of the following criteria:
- A minimum ATAR (or ATAR equivalent) of 97
- Experience in a teaching environment, or be a current education student at University to tutor Years 5-10
- Industry experience and subject expertise to tutor Year 11-12 (ie. you majored in Biology at university and now work as a Biology tutor)
Character traits

- Organised and responsible with great time management
- Knowledge about Australia's education system, ATARs, VCE, HSC etc. as well as general study and productivity tips
