Sophie
Hey! I’m Sophie — I’m currently studying Law and Commerce at the University of Sydney, and I did the IB in high school, scoring a 44/45 which placed me in the top 1% of all IB diploma students in the world.
One of the subjects I really enjoyed (and now tutor!) is Maths as I love helping my students enjoy the process of learning and building confidence in it.
I’ve been tutoring for a while now — I started back in school, helping students from Year 5 all the way to those in Year 12 at the end of high school, and I’ve also spent about a year and a half doing volunteer and paid online tutoring. Over that time, I’ve worked with all kinds of students, and I’ve learned how important it is to adapt to different learning styles — no two people learn the same way, and I think that’s actually one of the coolest parts of tutoring is that you get that specialised approach that is hard to find in schools, so I really make sure to capitalise on that.
My approach is really student-led — I want to understand how you think, where you're getting stuck, what, if anything, is holding you back at the moment and then work to overcome these and help you become more confident.
Outside of studying, I love staying active — running, going on walks, exploring the city, as well as trying any and all cafes and restaurants.
I’m super excited to help you reach your goals and share a bit of my love for learning with you all.
