Hello! 👋 My name is Jason, and I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies at UNSW 🎓. I’ve been tutoring IB Maths AA HL and Physics HL for over two years, helping students build confidence, improve their understanding, and achieve consistent progress. As someone from a Chinese-speaking background, I also offer Mandarin tutoring for students.
Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to receive Silver and Gold Crest Physics Awards, earn High Distinctions in the Australian Mathematics Competition, and receive a Distinction in the Physics Olympiad. These experiences pushed me to think deeply about problem-solving and conceptual understanding, and they inspire me to help students work smarter, not harder, by focusing on strategies that build true understanding and efficiency in learning.
I understand how demanding the IB curriculum is, especially when balancing heavy workloads, deadlines, and extracurricular commitments. Rather than focusing on memorisation, I help students develop clear thinking and effective strategies — the same skills that helped me succeed in competitive and high-pressure environments. By breaking down complex ideas, using visuals, and connecting concepts to real-world applications, I aim to make learning more engaging and far less overwhelming.
Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit individual needs and goals. My goal is not just short-term improvement, but lasting understanding and confidence that carries beyond exams.
