Hello! This is Ellie! I’m a maths tutor working with students from Year 1 to Year 12. Even though I tutor maths now, it definitely wasn’t always easy for me. I struggled with certain topics in school too, so I understand how confusing or frustrating maths can feel sometimes.
Because of that, I try to keep my lessons clear, patient, and relaxed. Instead of rushing through questions, I like to break things down step by step and explain the reasoning behind them. My goal is to help students actually understand what’s going on, not just memorise methods for a test. I’m also pretty big on communication during lessons.
I like students to talk through how they’re thinking about a question, because that usually makes it much easier to spot where things are going wrong. From there we can fix the misunderstanding together, and I’ll give feedback along the way so they keep improving.
For me, tutoring isn’t about being a maths genius — it’s about helping students realise that maths can make a lot more sense when it’s explained in the right way. I try to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and gradually building their confidence!
