Hey there!
My name is Tanya Chen and I graduated from James Ruse Agricultural High School with an ATAR of 99.85, currently studying a Bachelor of Medical Science with provisional entry into Doctor of Medicine.
I tutor maths (ext2/ext1/adv/std), English advanced, chemistry, physics and biology in accordance with the HSC syllabus.
📌 Why choose me? I am no stranger to bad results. In year 8, I distinctly remember my maths teacher abolishing me to the school’s maths mentoring program for having achieved the second lowest score in the class quiz.
Fast forward 3 years, and I entered the top maths class, becoming a tutor for this same maths mentoring program (as well as the school’s maths enrichment program), helping students like me back then to achieve their fullest potential!
So what changed? No, I did not start studying for 15 hours a day. Nor did I drop any of my extracurriculars (in fact I held 2 leadership positions and volunteered at 3 organisations during my senior years of high school).
Instead, I found that learning works best with a deep and intuitive understanding of content, something I strive to pass on to all my students and has helped the students I currently tutor achieve phenomenal results.
📌 What our lessons look like ⭐Each lesson starts with a quick 15 minute weekly quiz (based on last week’s content) to test and solidify understanding of important topics ⭐We then go through theory content for the week (I like to keep this as short as possible, as I believe it is more effective to ‘learn by doing’) ⭐We end the lesson off with some exam style questions (similar to ones which will be given as homework) ⭐I know the student’s time is valuable, so the student submits their homework for feedback BEFORE class so we can spend class times learning valuable content :) ⭐1 on 1 support at anytime throughout the week ⭐Weekly updates + lesson plans sent to parents
