Hello, Guys! 👋
Hi, I'm Madison!
I graduated Dux of my high school with a 97.85 ATAR, Band 6s (90s) in Mathematics Advanced, English Advanced, Visual Arts, Drama, and Religion, and the E4 equivalent in English Extension 1 and 2. Plus a 100 in Drama that earned me 3rd in NSW. All this to say I have a varied range of interests, and to be honest, I love learning. About anything. I am a fundamentally curious person, but I'm also dedicated, so anything I want to learn, I do.
That's why for university I'm studying a Double Degree of Arts and Sciences at the Australian National University, majoring in Psychology, Sociology, and English. I have far too many interests to pick just one major.
I didn't always enjoy learning. I absolutely hated it when I began Year 11 to find that almost all my subjects were essay heavy, especially my Arts subjects, and Maths class was the only time I could relax. However, somewhere along the way I worked out the formula to essay writing, and somehow, writing my essays became not just easy, but fun.
In my spare time, I'm an avid reader and I read everything from Gothic literature to Science Fiction, to non-fiction. I am constantly learning new things, in and out of the classroom. In fact, it was my fascination with literature and the way it teaches us about the world and our place within it that lead me to begin writing novels for myself.
It is my passion for learning and education that drew me to tutoring, because I know firsthand that school can be a stressful experience, but also that it doesn’t have to be. I am determined to teach students to learn HOW to learn effectively (without the excess misery), how to turn the sometimes labyrinthine topics and methods taught in class into a simple line from confusion to confident understanding, and how to fall in love with learning in the process.
