Matthew
Hey there! I'm Matthew, and I'm currently studying Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics at The University of Adelaide. My passion for maths started in high school, where I achieved top marks in Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics, earning a subject merit in the former. But beyond the grades, what I truly love is understanding the "how" and "why" behind concepts and using that knowledge to solve complex problems.
My tutoring philosophy is simple: Seek not to know, but to understand. I believe that once you genuinely grasp the reasoning behind a concept, solving problems becomes much more intuitive. My goal is to break down difficult topics into easy-to-digest explanations, tailoring my teaching approach to how you think. Everyone processes information differently, and I want to help you find the method that works best for you.
I know that maths can sometimes feel overwhelming—especially when faced with a complex problem. Many students struggle not because they aren’t capable, but because concepts aren’t always explained in a way that makes sense to them. That’s where I come in! I want to make maths less intimidating, help you develop problem-solving strategies, and give you tips to maximise both your study efficiency and your study-life balance.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing soccer, jamming on the drums, and catching up with friends. I love sharing my passion for maths with others, and there’s nothing more rewarding than helping a student finally have that "aha!" moment. If you're looking for a tutor who can simplify concepts, boost your confidence, and help you truly understand maths, I'd love to help!
