Kayla
Hello ! I'm Kayla and I graduated highschool with a 99.15 ATAR and a score of 99 in Extension 1 Maths. To be honest, I surprised myself with my results and I was both extremely happy with myself in not only achieving my academic goals, but also being able to do so while still enjoying my year 12 (for the most part at least).
At the start of year 11 and 12, I put myself through hell just trying to study as much as possible in order to get good marks. But I quickly realised this had the opposite effect I intended when I received my first round of exam results and felt the disappointment in how little my hard work seemed to pay off. The pressure really got to me and so I learnt to overcome it by building up other aspects of my life with friends and hobbies so that I could enjoy my life. Though this led me to study less, I ultimately learnt to study more efficiently and was much happier overall.
It's learning experiences throughout high school like these that really made me passionate to teach other students a hollistic approach to studying. I've always loved learning and teaching mathematics but plenty of others might not and so for me, it's all about making the content relevent and interesting, teaching to form a deeper conceptual understanding, and teaching my students ways to study more efficiently in order to maintain balance in their life.
