Emilia
Hi, I'm Emilia, a Civil Engineering Student at the University of Tasmania. I truly understand that juggling schoolwork and other commitments can be a struggle. However, I believe that with the right support networks, all students can succeed, without being overwhelmed!
During high school, I was involved in both athletics and football, and I received a state leadership award for showing self-initiative and commitment to making a difference in the community, specifically with environmental and women's rights issues. I have been supported with an academic scholarship from my school, and I participated in the University of Adelaide Headstart Scholarship program, which allowed me to study university-level subjects in year 12.
I know how important it is to tailor my approach to suit individual learning styles, which strengthens students' skills, and most importantly instils in them a sense of accomplishment, which is the ultimate goal of education. Working alongside students, rather than in a traditional 'teaching' style proves much more effective.
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to see the progress of students. Guiding them through challenges and helping them develop understanding and confidence in their abilities is a fulfilling experience. Throughout the last couple of years, I have developed exceptional communication skills, which allow me to explain concepts and problems effectively. Education can be most effective when students understand the real-world applications of the things they're learning.
