Ruiqi

I am studying mathematics at the University of Melbourne. I graduated as the dux of Nossal High School with an ATAR of 99.95.

I believe that there is value in being able to sit with a problem rather than being spoon-fed every answer, as you are forced to build a stronger foundation when not trained to "plug and chug". Hence, along with the necessity of teaching to the exams, my goal is to help you build a deep understanding of the content. One pragmatic motivation for this approach is that it helps students build intuition for solving seperator questions.

I was rank 1 for methods, spesh, algorithmics, and physics at my school. I completed UMEP Maths with first class honours. I hope that my study of mathematics at a tertiary level will provide you will tools and insight outside of the high school curriculum.

I am currently also working as a tutor at the Centre for Higher Education Studies as well as Skyline Hatch. Formerly, I wrote mock exams for my cohort and tutored my peers throughout VCE. Students from younger year levels regularly came to me with questions.

On a personal note, I am keen on programming and reading. Some of my favourite works are The Silmarillion and The Brothers Karamazov, but I also enjoy my fair share of popular fantasy/sci-fi. I like hanging out with friends, admiring gum trees, and public transport.
