After the VCEs are over, the next big task to tackle is deciding what university you want to go to. It is a big decision to make, and it is very important that you keep to the deadlines. It can be difficult keeping track of all the dates, so we have consolidated some of the important dates for the 5 most popular courses and in the three most popular Universities in Victoria.

Lowest Selection Rank
The Lowest Selection Rank is the ATAR (or adjusted ATAR after bonuses) of the last student who received an offer for the course in the previous intake. It can give you an idea of how competitive the course is, but it changes every year depending on demand and applicant scores.

*All courses have English as a prerequisite!

1. The University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne (#13 QS World University Ranking 2025) is second largest by enrolment in Victoria, but it is the most sought-after by high-achieving students and has the highest global ranking in the state.

🧪 Bachelor of Science

These are the things you should note to enter this course:

• Lowest selection rank was 87.00 in 2024
• Pre-requisites:
  • A study score of at least 25 in 3/4 English/English Language/ Literature or at least 30 in EAL
  • At least 25 in 3/4 Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics
  • At least 25 in one of 3/4 Biology, Chemistry or Physics; OR a study score of at least 25 in 3/4 English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in EAL
  • At least 25 in both 3/4 Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics
• Applicants intending to progress to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine are encouraged to complete VCE Units 3 and 4 in Chemistry or equivalent.

🎨 Bachelor of Arts

These are the things you should note to enter this course:

• Lowest selection rank was 87.00 in 2024
• Pre-requisite:
  • A study score of at least 25 in 3/4 English/English Language/ Literature or at least 30 in EAL
• Applicants intending to major in Economics are strongly encouraged to complete Mathematical Methods or equivalent

📊 Bachelor of Commerce

These are the things you should note to enter this course:

• Lowest selection rank was 92.00 for 2025 admission
• Pre-requisite:
  • A study score of at least 25 in 3/4 English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in EAL
  • At least 25 in 3/4 Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics
• Students may be eligible to progress into the 3-year Master of Engineering, subject to completing prerequisite subjects.
• Applicants intending to major in Actuarial Studies or who intend to complete the Master of Engineering following the Bachelor of Commerce are strongly encouraged to complete :
  • VCE Specialist Mathematics Units 3 and 4 or equivalent.
  • If VCE Specialist Mathematics has not been completed, students wanting to undertake the Master of Engineering will incur the cost of undertaking an additional Mathematics subject through the University's Community Access Program (CAP).
• International applicants intending to commence a major in Actuarial Studies from mid-year (July) must, at a minimum, meet the requirements to enter MAST10006 Calculus 2 which requires:
  • A study score of at least 29 in VCE Specialist Mathematics 3/4, or IB Higher Level Analysis and Approaches with a score of at least 4 or equivalent, or if attending Trinity College, successful completion of Mathematics 2.
  • If these requirements are not met students are advised to begin at start-year intake (February) the following year.

💉 Bachelor of Biomedicine

These are the things you should note to enter this course:

• Lowest selection rank was 92.00 for 2025 admission
• Pre-requisite:
  • A study score of at least 25 in 3/4 English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in EAL
  • At least 25 in 3/4 Chemistry and in Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics.

👗 Bachelor of Design

These are the things you should note to enter this course:

• Lowest selection rank was 85.10 for 2025 admission
• Pre-requisite:
  • A study score of at least 25 in 3/4 English/English Language/ Literature or at least 30 in EAL
• Applicants intending to major in Civil Systems, Computing, Construction, Mechanical Systems, Property or Spatial Systems may be required to undertake a bridging subject in mathematics as breadth in first year. This is equivalent to Units 3 and 4 Mathematical Methods, and entry requires a mathematics background equivalent to Units 1 and 2 Mathematical Methods

Monash (#37 QS World University Ranking 2025) is Victoria’s largest university by enrolment, and is highly regarded for its research, diverse course offerings, and strong industry connections.

These are the things you should note to enter this course:

• ATAR entry score was 80 in 2025
• Pre-requisite:
  • one of 3/4 Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geography, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, Physics or Psychology (score of 25)

📊 Bachelor of Commerce

These are the things you should note to enter this course:

• ATAR entry score was 87.05 in 2025
• Pre-requisite:
  • 3/4 Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (score of 25)

🎨 Bachelor of Arts

There are no subject prerequisites for this degree:

• ATAR entry score was 72 for Caulfield, and 75 for Clayton in 2025

There are no subject requirements for this course apart from English, but you do have to complete a submission task. ATAR is not the primary selection method for this course, so the most important factor would be the selection tasks.

🏗 Bachelor of Architectural Design

There are no subject requirements for this course apart from English, but you do have to complete a submission task. ATAR is not the primary selection method for this course, so the most important factor would be the selection tasks.
