My name is Chen, and I am an actuarial science student at The Australian National University on a full scholarship. My courses are all very mathematically and statistically focused, so I am very confident in my level of knowledge and.ability to teach these subjects. Additionally, I have excelled in various school, regional and national competitions, such as winning first prize in one of the largest mathematics contests In New Zealand.
Along with my subject expertise, I have also had a lot of experience teaching a wide variety of students, from 5 years old to over 50 in areas such as English, Maths and Music. Over the years, I have learnt to effectively adapt my teaching style to each individual such that the best possible environment is created for students to learn and grow. After students' time with me, I hope for them to develop efficient study habits and an actual interest in their subject areas.
Outside of work, I like to hang out with friends and go hiking. I believe that rest is essential for the brain to function properly, so students will definitely be encouraged, when appropriate, to relax and have fun whilst also achieving their academic goals. As such, I am a big proponent of quality homework that helps students to consolidate their knowledge and can be completed in a reasonable amount of time.
